Review / Tasting notes

“A lightly sparkling medium cider, with crisp and refreshing green undertones”

Refreshingly understated, Greenhorn places the green apple front and centre. Low in Tannins and acidity. it’s fair to say that there is not much going on here to excite the tasters. What Greenhorn lacks in complexity, it makes up for in balance. Upfront sweetness is replaced with a medium dryness and crisp mouthfeel.

Verdict: Refreshingly simple. A crisp cider that places green apples at the forefront. Not a high scorer and unlikely to threaten the Top 100. Well balanced.

Taste: Medium Dry – caramel notes
Served: 500ml bottle at room temperature
Smell: Oak and Apple (strong nose)
Colour: Light Brown

Review/Tasting Notes:

This award winning (Joint-second – Cider of the Festival CAMRA Southampton 2018) cider is a complex medium dry craft cider. High in tannins, leaving a wonderful after-taste that lingers well beyond tasting.

“Amber cider lightly oaked with vanilla, kiwi fruit, and caramel notes. Good with stilton cheese and desserts. Using local Hampshire and Sussex dessert apples together with bittersweeets from the West Country.”

Verdict: Complex and mature. Sure to feature in the Top 100.

ABV: 4.5%
Taste: Medium sweet
Served: 500ml bottle (chilled)
Smell: Pleasant delicate fruit aroma
Colour: Straw
Clarity: Clear
Carbonation: Lightly Sparkling

Review/Tasting Notes:

Although this is a refreshing and crisp sparkling cider, it lacks depth.

The fruity and crisp up-front flavours dissipate quickly leaving a dryness and little aftertaste.

Verdict: Cornish Gold promises much but lacks punch. It is crisp and refreshing – that’s about it.
